Technology obstacles slow down digitization – but they don’t have to

Achim Berg, President of the German high-tech association Bitkom paints a gloomy picture of competition in the digital change: “Twelve percent of German companies currently see their existence threatened by digitization, 37 percent have problems coping with digitization according to their own statements – but only one in five companies is currently investing in the digitization of its business model. When asked why so little attention is paid to the use of new technologies at the top of the company, 37 percent of managers currently say: “I don’t have time for this”.

However, “no time” is often just an explanation for the fact that the technical obstacles to the implementation of digital strategies are perceived as insurmountable. Because in many companies, the rule of three applies: Firstly, the integration of isolated IT landscapes is too costly, but it would secondly be the prerequisite for successful digitization, without which, thirdly, new business models cannot be implemented. “No time” is therefore a synonym for “No money”!

The five typical IT challenges can certainly be solved and financially mastered if the right tools are used. Even in its basic version, the actesy metadata framework has all the necessary functionalities to initiate a successful digital transformation through integration projects:

Heterogeneous IT landscapes:

In many companies there are still integration gaps between individual solution modules which make it seem impossible to implement digital and above all continuous business processes. With more than 250 preconfigured adaptors and a tool for data modelling, actesy creates a coherent application network from heterogeneous systems – even across company borders.

Inflexible legacy systems:

Existing software packages are often difficult to adapt to new business processes and functions – also because the providers of standard software are overstrained with individual extensions.

With the actesy metadata framework, legacy systems can easily be enhanced with new functions and new data fields can be added. Simultaneously, new user interfaces can be designed for new usage worlds – company-wide, mobile or cloud-based solutions.

Separate data silos:

Different applications are usually based on different data models and database management systems. This often prevents the opportunity to gain a holistic view of corporate data. With adaptors and the data modelling tool, actesy builds a bridge between systems and databases. Subsequently, the tools allow actesy Workflow and RPA to enable cross-system and automated business processes.

Increasing regulation:

Changes in the law and compliance requirements make it necessary to continuously update business processes and the underlying applications. actesy automatically documents all processes, data and transactions down to the document and timestamp level. Thus, not only existing business processes but also new changes and variations can be documented in a validation-proof way.

Outdated management structures:

In many companies, IT projects are still launched using outdated management methods in which goals are defined far too broadly and planned statically. With actesy, companies can switch to agile development methods without a big culture shock and enforce more flexibility in the management of IT projects.

Five good reasons to deal with the actesy metadata framework. Because with actesy you gain time, money and competence for your digital project. We need to talk!
